what to expect

Thinking about visiting Shoreline? Here are a few things you can expect when you join us for a gathering:

Warm, friendly, casual atmosphere...

We like to think of Shoreline as a family - and we'd like you to feel welcome! From smiling greeters to helpful hospitality team and staff, it is our goal to make your visit an experience you want to repeat! In all our gatherings, you are welcome to "come as you are." Our gatherings are open to everyone - come explore what it means to live a life of faith with us!

Bring the kids...

Our world-class children's ministry provides a safe, fun, learning environment for kids from nursery through 5th grade. All of our children's volunteers are carefully screened, trained, and dedicated to helping kids have a great time on Sundays. Don't be surprised if they have so much fun they want to come back again!

For directions to age-appropriate opportunities for your children, please feel free to ask one of our hospitality team members (wearing a name tag or lanyard) on Sunday. Children’s Ministry and Nursery Check-in times:
For the 9:00am gathering—8:45-9:15
For the 10:45am gathering—10:30-11:00
For the 6:00pm gathering—5:45-6:15
For Wednesday Night Ministries—6:15-6:45

Practical, Biblical teaching about a life of faith...

Every Sunday you will hear inspiring, engaging teaching from the Bible. We believe a life centered around faith in Jesus is the best way to live - and each week we laugh, learn, and grow together. Join us and see how faith can transform YOUR life!

Relevant, high quality music...

No matter which of our three gathering "flavors" you choose, you'll enjoy excellent music and skilled musicians. Feel free to join in on the singing or just listen in!

People who care...

Shoreline is about people. Here you will find an instant group of friends ready to listen, talk, and pray with you. Whatever your need or struggle, we want to walk along the road of life together and encourage one another.

If you have specific questions: before coming to a gathering, contact: welcome@shorelinecc.com; or jana@shorelinecc.com; during a gathering, contact: Hospitality Team (their lanyards or badges should give them away); after you’ve come to a gathering, contact: welcome@shorelinecc.com; or jana@shorelinecc.com

Practices During the Gathering:
-One of our SCC Pastors (and occasionally a guest) speaks and shares a message with us each Sunday that is based on the Bible and will likely be both practical and inspirational.  We have free podcasts and message audio available on our website: www.shorelinecc.com/message_audio.cfm

-The Bible expresses that the church’s resources should be provided and sustained from those who call the church their “home.”  This is what we call the “Offering”, basically setting aside a portion of our finances for God.  We believe that guests are not at all obligated to participate when the bags or baskets are passed.  However, for those who have made a commitment to following Christ, we should prioritize giving back to our generous God through tithes (10% of our income) and offerings (giving above that amount to local or global projects, when prompted in obedience).

-The singing part of the gathering is one way we can express our thoughts and emotions to God—it is a form of worship.  Many songs that we sing are taken from portions of the Bible.

-If people are raising their hands, it is another form of worship—expressing surrender, love, or a longing for God.

-If you have a concern, there will be someone you can talk to, who is also willing to pray with you.  People will be around tables at the sides of the room after each gathering, and also someone could talk to you and provide resources at the Fresh Start Table in the back.  We believe that God cares deeply about each individual, and our concerns affect Him and are important to Him.

Commonly Asked Questions:

-Who are the people who have said “Hi” to me and given me the program for today/tonight?  These people are the Hospitality Team, and hopefully they can answer questions you may have about where the bathrooms are, where the Children’s Area is, and what other ministries, classes or events are available.  We want you to feel included and welcomed here!

-Everyone here seems happy, are you always this way? Well, no, we aren't perfect either.  Hopefully people will be smiling and kind to you, but that doesn’t mean these people have no problems—you’re not out of place because none of us are exempt from hard times and trials in life. We all need God’s help and interaction in our lives because none of us are immune from struggling. We want to this place and these people to become a healing community of love, acceptance, forgiveness and belonging. We’re in the process and we’re learning to love Jesus more and grow in authentic relationships with God and one another. Jesus was “the man” at helping people feel important and included, so even though we’re imperfect, we want to be more like Jesus, and we'd love if you would join in this journey, too.

-Do I have to participate in everything (standing, sitting, clapping, singing, praying, giving, etc.)? Nope, you don’t have to do all of these things; we want you to be comfortable and participate as much as you want while you explore the teachings of Jesus and learn what this is all about.
